Facebook feud led to crash death, Pontiac police say

Pontiac -- A 23-year-old Pontiac woman is expected to be arraigned Friday in a fatal car crash that stemmed from a dispute on the social networking site Facebook, police said today.Alesha Abernathy, 21, of Pontiac was killed in the crash Wednesday, and her front-seat passenger, Danielle Booth, 20, also of Pontiac, was hospitalized in critical condition.
The 23-year-old woman, who was driving the other car involved in the crash at Woodward and Rapid Street, is expected to be charged in Pontiac's 50th District Court with second-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and child abuse, according to a warrant obtained by Detective Paul McDougal. She was not injured.
Police said the woman to be charged had her 3-year-old daughter in her vehicle Wednesday when she spotted Booth, with whom she had been feuding on Facebook. Police said Booth had filed a police report Tuesday alleging harassment by the woman.
According to authorities, the woman repeatedly rammed Abernathy's car, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The Abernathy car struck a dump truck, which flipped onto its side. The truck driver was unhurt.
According to a police news release, McDougal saw the incident and arrested the 23-year-old driver after a brief pursuit.
