2 killed as plane crashes, catches fire in Cleveland National Forest

Two people died in a small plane crash in the Cleveland National Forest on Saturday, officials said.
The crash started a fire and destroyed the plane, said Mike Fergus, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The bodies had not been identified, he said.
The departure and destination of the plane were not known. Fergus said it was probably being flown under visual flight rules, which do not require the filing of flight plans.
Investigators from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board were en route to the scene of the accident, not far from Corona.
The tail number identified the plane as a fixed-wing single engine registered to an owner in Carson City, Nev.
