Hacker steals women’s nude photos, turns them into Facebook profile pictures

One day, your profile is an innocent photo of you with your dog. The next, it’s you in lingerie. (Facebook - ASSOCIATED PRESS)
What is it with hackers and stealing photos of women less than fully dressed?
Back in January, a California hacker hacked into dozens of women’s e-mail accounts, stole nude photos of them, and sent them to everyone in their contact book. He thought it was “funny.”
Now a hacker in Florida has taken it a step further, breaking into 19 women’s e-mail accounts, stealing nude and semi-nude photos of them, and then switching it for the women’s Facebook profile pictures, Tampa Bay Online reports.
The hacker, Joseph Bernard Campbell, 24, of Largo, knew many of the women and said he wanted “to harass the victims and cause them emotional distress.”
Campbell got what he wanted. The women “were devastated,” according to Lt. Bill Sohl of the Belleair Police Department. “All of a sudden they were getting phone calls from their friends, saying, ‘Do you know what's on your Facebook page?’”
In addition to posting the photos to the women’s Facebook profiles, Campbell also posted them on a Web site called “Pinellas County Sluts”, a site called “Dumpster Sluts”, and a forum called “Revenge”. These sites have now been taken down.
The hacker got most of the women’s e-mail addresses and passwords by sending them fake greeting cards.
Campbell has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges of cyberstalking and unauthorized access to a computer, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Tampa. Both charges carry a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine, although it’s likely Campbell would receive a lesser sentence.
