Scripps College Holding Active Shooter Drill

Scripps College Holding Active Shooter Drill

CLAREMONT, Calif. (KTLA) — Los Angeles-area first responders are being put to the test Wednesday in an active shooter drill at Scripps College.

It’s the same kind of drill that we saw just a few weeks ago on the campus of Cal State Northridge.

A similar drill was recently held at CSUN.

First responders wantto make sure they know exactly what to do and how to work together if there was, indeed, a gunman on campus.

The exercise on Wednesday will include the Los Angles County Fire Department, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department and Claremont police.

It will take place in several areas of the Scripps College campus.

Police will practice tactics to quickly protect students from a simulated active shooter, and emergency responders will also practice victim treatment and transport.

Students and staff should be prepared to hear helicopters and sires, and to possibly see people — all actors — who look like they have been injured.
