...FEELING THE HEAT IN THE MOJAVE DESERT TODAY...

A MASSIVE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT HAS RESULTED IN NUMEROUS 
RECORD HIGH MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES BEING SET OR TIED TODAY.

IN LAS VEGAS THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AT THE OFFICIAL CLIMATE STATION AT 
MCCARRAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REACHED 115 DEGREES. THIS TIED THE 
DAILY RECORD FOR JUNE 28TH SET IN 1994. THIS MARKS THE FIRST TIME 
LAS VEGAS HAS REACHED 115 AT MCCARRAN SINCE JULY 6, 2007 AND IN THE 
MONTH OF JUNE SINCE JUNE 30, 1994.

ON MT CHARLESTON NEVADA THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AT THE CO-OP WEATHER 
STATION LOCATED IN KYLE CANYON AT 7450 FEET WAS 92 DEGREES. THIS 
BREAKS THE OLD DAILY RECORD OF 89 DEGREES SET IN 1994. THIS IS THE 
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED HERE SINCE IT REACHED 92 DEGREES BACK 
ON JULY 17, 1998.

AT BISHOP CALIFORNIA THE HIGH TEMPERATURE TODAY AT THE EASTERN 
SIERRA REGIONAL AIRPORT REACHED 107 DEGREES. THIS BREAKS THE DAILY 
RECORD HIGH AT BISHOP OF 105 DEGREES SET IN 1956. THIS IS THE 
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE AT BISHOP SINCE JULY 5, 2007 WHEN IT REACHED 108 
DEGREES. IN ADDITION...THE LOW TEMPERATURE OF 65 DEGREES AT BISHOP 
TIES THE HIGHEST MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE LAST SET IN 1977.

AT DEATH VALLEY CALIFORNIA THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AT THE FURNACE CREEK 
VISITOR'S CENTER REACHED 125 DEGREES. THIS TIED THE DAILY RECORD 
LAST SET IN 1994.

AT NEEDLES CALIFORNIA THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 121 DEGREES TODAY 
BROKE THE OLD DAILY RECORD OF 119 SET IN 1994. THIS IS THE HOTTEST 
JUNE TEMPERATURE AT NEEDLES SINCE JUNE 30, 1994 WHEN IT ALSO REACHED 
121 DEGREES.

AT KINGMAN ARIZONA THE HIGH OF 110 DEGREES TODAY BROKE THE OLD DAILY 
RECORD OF 107 SET IN 1914. THIS IS THE SECOND EARLIEST KINGMAN HAS 
EVER REACHED THE 110 DEGREE MARK WITH THE EARLIEST BEING JUNE 16, 
1917. THIS ALSO TIES THE ALL-TIME JUNE RECORD FOR KINGMAN OF 110 
DEGREES SET ON JUNE 16, 1917 AND TIED ON JUNE 29, 1924.

RECORDS DATE BACK TO 1937 FOR LAS VEGAS, 1980 FOR MT CHARLESTON, 
1943 FOR BISHOP, 1911 FOR DEATH VALLEY, 1888 FOR NEEDLES AND 1901 IN 
KINGMAN.
